Hello

Thank you for visiting my website. I am the author M. C. Angel, and this is my story...

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of immigrant parents from Liberia, West Africa. Growing up in a traditional Liberian household in the heart of Brooklyn exposed me to multiple cultures, people, foods, and ways of living, shaping the creative lens through which I saw the world. As a child, my mother and grandmother made sure to take me home to Liberia almost every summer. This exposure eventually influenced how I wrote my stories.

Being an only child could have been lonely, but my imagination kept me company. I was observant and curious, always studying people. I was an active child—running through activities faster than my parents could come up with them. My love for storytelling began early. When I was three, a salesman selling encyclopedias came to our house.

My father bought the whole set, along with additional books to help children learn how to read. They came with pens that lit up. By the time I was four, I was already reading and scribbling my own little stories.

Throughout elementary and high school, I continued writing, even winning local writing awards.

The Color Purple by Alice Walker will always hold a sacred place in my heart. My father gave it to me as a teenager, after being the one to put my very first books in my hands as a child. That moment felt full circle—because by the time I finished it, I knew writing would be my profession. The book opened my eyes to the power of voice, survival, and storytelling, and it lit a fire in me that I’ve been chasing ever since.

My high school English teacher encouraged me to attend St. John's University, where I had a dual major: Communication Arts with a concentration in Theater Arts, and Journalism with a focus on Broadcast TV.

After graduation, I worked across different sectors of the entertainment and media industry before earning my MBA in Marketing and stepping into entrepreneurship.

During that season, writing had to take a backseat. Life steered me toward marriage, children, the challenges of postpartum depression, and other personal traumas. Even though writing was always my passion, I couldn’t bring myself to start my story. I knew what I wanted to say, but the words refused to come together. Instead, I filled notebooks with years of notes—capturing the good, the bad, the ugly, and the hopeful. Eventually, I realized I was living the chapters I wanted to write.

Journaling helped me channel the pain, but creating characters to carry my stories was still my deepest desire. When clarity finally came, I just started writing—no clear beginning, no definite ending—just the need to get it out. And when the world shut down during COVID-19, I found my stride. I became fully committed, completing the twelve-book Diary of a Baddie short story series and beginning work on The Price of Love novel series.

As a multi-genre writer, I move between romance, historical fiction, urban literature, suspense, and YA—but my mission is always the same: to tell stories with a raw, honest voice that stays with you. My writing is shaped by both my American upbringing and Liberian roots, but also by all the moments life handed me—joy, struggle, faith, and the grind to start over again and again.

Whether I’m crafting a love story, an intergenerational epic, or a fast-paced thriller, my characters are never perfect. They stumble, rise, and rebuild, much like I have. Through all the genres I explore, I aim to create narratives that reflect our humanity—full of culture, shadowed by pain, driven by hope, and always anchored in love.

Happy reading,
M.C. Angel
